New Approaches to Quantifying Exchanges of Carbon and Energy Across a Range of Scales
Estimating carbon and energy exchanges in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum across spatial and temporal scales is a primary focus of coordinated interagency collaborations (i.e., U.S. Global Change Research Program, Climate Change Science Program, and the Carbon Cycle InterAgency Working Group) that are outlined in North American Carbon Plan [Wofsy and Harriss, 2002], Carbon Cycle Science Plan [Sarmiento and Wofsy, 1999], Intergovernmental Panel on Global Climate Change [Intergovernmental Panel on Global Climate Change, 1995] and other position papers.
