Demonstration of a regional-scale unconformity in Western Australia
This paper presents a synthesis of previously published geological and geophysical data (including recently published geological maps) on the central part of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia, augmented by original microstructural data on several key zones. This review demonstrates that a regional-scale unconformity marks the transition from deep-marine sedimentary deposits to the deposition of proximal clastic sedimentary deposits, and is contemporaneous to the emplacement of plutons at depth. This should be of interest to the broader geosciences community as it provides important constraints on the relationship between topography, deformation and magmatism during the NeoArchean.
