An advance in global photosynthesis modeling
Recently, there has been some discussion over whether reflectance-based approaches versus solar induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) can really yield good estimates of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), with some authors suggesting SIF to be superior. This study indicates that the accuracy of GPP retrieval may have a lot to do with model formulation (for example, Light Use Efficiency formulation in this case) and less to do with the measurement method. This is one of the first advances in global photosynthesis modeling that combines information content from the flux tower network with remote sensing of a newly available quantity to advance over commonly used measure.
