Statistical properties of solar wind reconnection exhausts

The analysis presented in this paper shows for the first time that the amount of increase in plasma density and ion temperature across solar wind exhausts depends on both the external plasma beta and the magnitude of the background guide magnetic field. This is an important new result based on a pressure balance argument that directly addresses why the density and ion temperature increases are reported to be weak and sometimes absent across a subset of solar wind exhausts.
