Simulation of magma evolution in ocean island basalts
This study uses Magma Chamber Simulator (MCS) software to simulate magma evolution by differentiation, assimilation of wall rock, and magma recharge events. The MCS was developed largely for applications in arc magmatism and felsic systems. This is its first application to oceanic systems in general, and ocean island basalt-related magmatism in particular. This is noteworthy as the MCS is a potentially valuable tool for investigating many complex open-system magmatic provinces.
