A parametric approach for simultaneous bias correction and high-resolution downscaling of climate model rainfall
Editors’ Highlight—The paper proposes a parametric bias correction procedure to simultaneously correct and high-resolution downscale the regional climate model rainfall. The authors use a two-component theoretical distribution model and a proper interpolation of the corresponding distribution parameters on a user-defined high-resolution grid. The performance of this approach relative to the non-parametric one is assessed using daily rainfall measurements from a dense network on the island of Sardinia. The results suggest that the parametric approach is more accurate, especially in the case of extreme rainfall.
