A discussion on the tectonic implications of Ediacaran late- to post-orogenic A-type granite in the northeastern Arabian Shield, Saudi Arabia
Editors’ Highlight—This paper presents an important new model for Arabian Shield magmatism, which should stimulate debate and further research. The authors discuss a significant point in the tectonic evolution of the Arabian-Nubian Shield which is the transition from late- to post-orogenic magmatism following major orogenic episodes (i.e. East African Orogen). Their model has applications for the whole of the Arabian-Nubian Shield, and by extension for consideration in any discussion of magmatism in accretionary, orogenic belts.
