Testing monsoonal controls on bedrock river incision in the Himalaya and Eastern Tibet with a stochastic-threshold stream power model

Editor’s Highlight—

This paper presents insight into fluvial incision of the Himalaya, but also provides a new framework for accounting for stochastic flood events and the role of regional differences in hydroclimate on landscape evolution. The approach provides an important means for accounting for scatter and spatial variation in observed erosion rates, with implications for long-term effects of climate change.
